Katana Cuts Roses in Slow Motion and It’s Beautiful

Katana Cuts Roses

A traditional Japanese sword, the katana is perhaps one of the most recognizable weapons today. Pop culture has only boosted its popularity. Think Kill Bill, where Hattori Hanzō’s katanas made fans all over the world buy their own replicas.

However, today’s featured katana is the real thing – although “real” means an array of details. Try researching katanas, and you’ll be overwhelmed with types of katanas, purposes of katanas, materials, and so on.

Crazy sharp and strong steel aside, I think that katanas and roses aren’t usually associated with each other, yes?

These guys don’t think so, though. They created this video where a katana cuts roses, and while it seems such an incongruous idea, the result is beautiful – for three reasons:

  1. The katana is a thing of beauty. The swordsman says it’s made of two different kinds of steel, folded a ton of times…and all of the things that are supposed to make a katana badass
  2. The guy wielding the katana has got impressive skills
  3. Slow motion…oh, so beautiful

Valentine’s may be far off, but if you’re pretty sure you’ll be spending it alone, then you’ll appreciate this video even more; and, just in case you do end up in a heart-wrenching situation come February, save this post. You’ll feel better watching it.
