The Return of the Tamagotchi

The Return of the Tamagotchi

Move over all you high-tech toys. All we, 90s kids, need is the good old Tamagotchi – and it’s making a comeback!

If you were a kid, a tween, or even a teenager in the 90s, you’ll probably remember the novel fun the Tamagotchi brought back then. Peers who owned a Tamagotchi were envied by those who didn’t have them.

As things usually go with technology, though, the Tamagotchi faded into the background with better toys.

However, sometimes, simple is actually nicer. And there’s the nostalgic factor.

If you feel the same way, then you’re probably ready to pre-order the new Tamagotchi.

The virtual pet is being re-released by Bandai, this time in a mini-version. The mechanics are basically the same, but you get a more portable pet.

For those of you who are too young to remember, a Tamagotchi looks like this.

Much like it’s real-life counterpart, you have to take care of your digital pet, which you can hatch and raise. If you don’t give it enough attention, it will die.

Bandai initially released the new Tamagotchi in Japan, but when its reception surpassed their expectations, they decided to release it in the United States as well. (Yay for us!)

The smaller Tamagotchi comes in six different designs and each comes with six pets. That should be enough for you to handle, shouldn’t it?

They will be available at various North American stores for $14.99 on November 5. If you’re a 90s kid, you’ll need to convincing. If you’re not, then you should at least give them a try!
