Get a Glimpse Into Martin Scorsese’s Lockdown Experience on BBC
When it comes to top-notch content, BBC has not let us down. With this special series of Front Row Late, a program highlighting the arts, BBC has once again proven worthy of everyone’s love. This unique series has been adapted to the situation we are all experiencing – the COVID-19 pandemic. Titled Lockdown Culture With Mary Beard, the series features various personalities sharing an inner glimpse into their lives, and with the finale, we are treated to an exceptional video by – and about – Martin Scorsese.
In the homemade short film, the famed director shares what he’s been – and going – through during the lockdown. He says that he didn’t expect this period of self-isolation as intense. In fact, he quite welcomed it at first, but as days and weeks went by, feelings of anxiety set in.
“We had been working so hard on so many different projects, and things were spinning and spinning and spinning, and suddenly it was a crash, and a stop.
“At first, it was a day or so of a kind of relief. I didn’t have to go anywhere or do anything. I mean, I had to do everything, but I didn’t have to do it then.
“It was a kind of relief. And then the anxiety set in.”
Many might have put him on a pedestal, but these revelations show us just how much he is like everyone else.
While he may be the highlight of the series, there are many other personalities you can relate to in the show.
You can see Martin Scorsese’s lockdown experience on BBC Two or on BBC’s website using iPlayer. The not-so-good news is that you can only watch this program online if you’re in the United Kingdom. Of course, a VPN would solve that issue.
