Meet Freddy the Tortoise and His Custom 3D-Printed Shell

Freddy the Tortoise is another living testament to the wonders of 3D printing, especially when good souls make use of it. Caught in a brush fire in Brazil, Freddy got injured and lost most of her shell. The shell being tortoises’ primary protection against predators and is actually an extension of their ribcage. Imagine not having most of your ribcage…

Luckily for Freddy, the Animal Avengers came to the rescue. I kid you not. There is such a group of superheroes focused on helping animals, and what they do is amazing. This was Freddy’s state. How horrible is that?

But, thanks to the Animal Avengers, she now looks awesome and probably feels even more so.
