This NERF Gun Casts Spells Instead of Shooting Bullets
There’s nothing much more cathartic than a good NERF gun battle at the end of a taxing work week. But there’s so much more to NERF blasters than meets the eye. That is, if you’ve got the imagination and skills.
This Japanese artist has both and the result is worthy of Dr. Strange himself. Meet the NERF spellcaster.
The NERF spellcaster is a modded blaster which makes use of Persistence of Vision (POV) display. Basically, with a few hacks here and there, the blaster shoots out a holographic display instead of rubber bullets.
According to Hackaday:
The basic gun is built around a Nerf blaster, which is common in a lot of this type of steampunk and anime build. A Phantom3D POV display is then bolted on to the front along with some 3D printed components for style. The ensemble is then painted in a suitably awesome fashion.
The whole device isn’t all hardware, of course. The NERF spellcaster has to look good on the outside, but without solid software, it would be useless in a magic duel. The details of the software haven’t been shared with the public, but suffice it to say that the results are amazing.
See it for yourself.
