Can I Have This Star Trek USS Enterprise Drone, Please?
I bet that’s what all Star Trek fans and drone enthusiasts say with a single look at this USS Enterprise Drone – and quite rightly so. Even without knowing all the details, the idea of having a working drone that looks just like the iconic spaceship will make one take a second – and third – look.
Although the talk of the town is Star Wars, this year is a big one for the Star Trek franchise. One that we cannot ignore (yes, I know my bias is showing).
Come fall, the franchise will be celebrating its 50th anniversary!
And that’s why Spin Master has taken great pains to create this USS Enterprise drone.
(On another, related note, here is a very interesting article on time travel in the Trek universe. It is quite a long and deep read, but you won’t regret it.)
Back to the drone…
Spin Master made sure that this is no ordinary flying gadget.
Not only does it look like the ship (although it’s somehow “transparent”), it also has the necessary lights and sounds. And, of course, it flies.
What more can you want?
The official name of this drone is USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A and it will be available later this year – perhaps some time near the 50th-anniversary celebration? – for $120. Think it’s pricey? Well, think about that warp speed mode button on the controller (with sound!), and you’ll quickly shell out that hundred bucks.
