Studio Ghibli Theme Park to Open in 2022
Get your passports and visa ready, for in four years, you will have the ultimate reason to visit Japan. The regional government of the Aichi Prefecture has disclosed plans to open the much-awaited Studio Ghibli Theme Park that was originally announced early last year. The park will be located at the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park in Nagakute city – near Nagoya.
Fans of Hayao Miyazaki and his fantastical worlds will be more than thrilled to actually experience these worlds in real-life. Imagine being Princess Mononoke. Or No-Face (Kaonashi). How about actually being in Howl’s Moving Castle?
We don’t know about you, but this is the very definition of heaven!
According to the Aichi government, the Studio Ghibli Theme Park will feature our most beloved Miyazaki creations such as “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Kiki’s Delivery Service” and “Howl’s Moving Castle.
We will also be seeing iconic Miyazaki elements such as “European-themed brick towers…giant installations of spider- and boar-shaped spirits in imaginary landscapes that evoke Japan’s mythical and idyllic past”, The Japan Times reports.
