Suffering In SIlence – Bringing Awareness to Sickle Cell Anemia

If you’re not black or African American, Indian, Hispanic, or a medical student , chances are you’ve never heard of Sickle Cell Anemia. It’s a condition I was born with, one in every twelve African Americans carry the trait. Many people who suffer from sickle cell “suffer in silence” because of it’s tricky outlook, and lack of awareness.

My name is Jimi Olaghere and I recently launched a brand with my partner Gary Swaby, the sole purpose of this brand is bringing awareness to sickle cell which in turn will encourage more research.

In the video above I describe what it’s like to grow up with the Sickle Cell disease. It has been extremely difficult because of the lack of understanding and awareness of the condition.

With Geek Supply, we want to build a support base for other Sickle Cell sufferers so that they don’t have to suffer in silence like I have. 10% of all Geek Supply’s monthly profits are donated to Sickle Cell charities.
