Support Team USA in the Giant Robot Duel!
It wasn’t that long ago that the USA (well, a bunch of guys) challenged Japan to a giant robot duel. MegaBot USA made a giant robot in 2014 (funded via Kickstarter) which kicks butt.
This time, MegaBot wants to take things to another level – by challenging the only other giant robot maker in the world, Kuratas Mecha of Japan.
Kuratas Mecha, by way of founder Kogoro Kurata rose to the challenge by responding with their own video.
So it’s going to happen. That is, if MegaBot gets the money it needs to create a new robot to beat up Japan’s. And we know MegaBot will need to do a lot of work. After all, the Japanese are known for its excellence it robotics.
The company has launched another Kickstarter campaign to make the dream come true and win the Giant Robot Duel. They need $500,000 to reach their goals – not a small sum at all, but hey, they are creating a ginormous robot! And it’s not only size that matters.
They also need to do the following:
- Add heavy duty armor plating
- Add some serious firepower
- Upgrade hydraulics to handle the heavier armor and firepower
- Increase top speed
- Upgrade the power unit to keep up with the new hydraulic system and speed
- Test a wide range of weapons and choose the best load-out
- Keep the balance during hand to hand combat and not fall over
- Not injure the operators in the cockpit during combat
- Fight with an incredibly sweet paint job. While not strictly required, this is a matter of national pride.
