Teach Kids JavaScript with Star Wars Force for Change
I’m one of the gazillion Disney fans around the world, but I have never hidden the fact (in recent years) how the empire has entered the world of “milking it”. With the Star Wars franchise, especially, they have made so many spinoffs, created so much merchandise, and explored so many avenues of making more money.
But this new program might just be an indication of Disney’s roots. Star Wars Force for Change is the company’s charitable extension, and it’s latest endeavor is to teach kids how to code using with the help of characters such as Rey and BB-8, and Princess Leia and secret scumbag R2-D2.
The program is meant to introduce children to the world of coding, starting with the very basics. While it is a very simple, it is interactive, making sure to catch the interest of children, especially those who are already captivated by technology and have the proclivity to create something for themselves.
Star Wars Force for Change is being launched in line with the Hour of Code campaign, in honor of Computer Science Education Week, which is from December 7-13 this year.
With the program, kids can use drag-drop blocks and JavaScript. Children ages 11 and above are the target audience.
I think that parents should at least give this initiative a try to see if their children have the potential to get into coding.

Milk the market they may, Disney gets a thumbs up for this.
