The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki Is a Must-Have for Studio Ghibli Fans
Although anime is still be considered niche, it has received quite a lot of attention in recent years. Not in the least because of the highly popularized comic cons where you can see anything (anyone?) from superhero to anime characters.
I do think that we can safely say that even people who do not know much about anime, or are not really interested in it, have at least an encounter with Studio Ghibli – even if they may not have heard of Hayao Miyazaki. For those who know their stuff, though, Hayao Miyazaki is practically a god. His legacy – almost unparalleled.
So if you’re part of that group, you’ll want to save up for “The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki”, a Blu-ray set from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and an Amazon exclusive.
The set includes 11 movies:
- Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro
- Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
- Castle in the Sky
- My Neighbor Totoro
- Kiki’s Delivery Service
- Porco Rosso
- Princess Mononoke
- Spirited Away
- Howl’s Moving Castle
- Ponyo
- The Wind Rises
Although fans probably have all of these, the collection has some extras to offer like episodes from TV shows that Miyazaki was involved in. There’s also a book titled The Great Dichotomy: Looking at the Works of Hayao Miyazaki by Tomohiro Machiyama.
The Amazon listing offers little information except for the price of $224.99, with no release date yet. You can pre-order to receive the set as soon as it becomes available.
