We Finally Get Firefly Back – As Books
Lord, grant me the serenity. Just the serenity. Period.
This prayer has been said millions of times since the last episode of Firefly aired. Even more so when we found out it wasn’t coming back.
Now, it seems our prayers have been answered, only in another form. As they say, God works in mysterious ways, and this must be one of those moments.
While we’ve been clamoring for the TV series to make a comeback, we just might have to be content with the book version of our beloved Firefly – hopefully only for now.
Titan Books and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products have collaborated to bring Joss Whedon’s marvelous creation to paper. These books are going to be new stories, mind you, but they’re definitely staying true to the Firefly spirit. While they are going to be written by different authors, Joss Whedon hovers close by as consulting editor.
You may have heard of the first three writers – New York Times bestsellers Nancy Holder (Buffy, Angel), Tim Lebbon (Cabin in the Woods, 30 Days of Night) and James Lovegrove (Age of Odin).
In a press release, Titan Books gives us some insight into the first three books.
- Nancy Holder’s Firefly: Big Damn Hero (October 2018) – Captain Malcolm Reynolds finds himself in a dangerous situation after being kidnapped by a bunch of embittered veteran Browncoats.
- James Lovegrove’s Firefly: The Magnificent Nine (March 2019) – Jayne receives a distress call from his ex Temperance McCloud that leads the Serenity crew to danger on a desert moon.
- Tim Lebbon’s Firefly: Generations (October 2019) – the discovery of the location of one of the legendary Ark ships that brought humans from Earth-that-was to the ’Verse promises staggering salvage potential, but at what cost? River Tam thinks she might know…
I don’t know about you, but I’m snatching a copy as soon as possible.
