Custom GameCube Joy-Cons Will Take You Back
No question about it. Joy-Cons give us a lot of joy. But if you’re like modder Shank, you might sometimes find yourself hankering for some more classic…something like the GameCube controller.
Now, there apparently have been GameCube Joy-Cons all over the web – renders, at least. While they could be quite entertaining, Shank Mods, couldn’t help himself any longer. He made real working GameCube Joy-Cons.
You can’t blame the guy for wanting to hold a proper GameCube controller while playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on his Switch. So, how did he go about it?
He got hold of a Gamecube Wavebird wireless controller and set about tearing it apart. He took out its electronic innards and then transplanted electronics from Joy-Cons. Et, voila! He had himself GameCube Joy-Cons.
Simple enough, yes? However, as you will see from this video, the process is not that easy. In fact, the modder himself says, “These JoyCons are real, but they are not for sale. They were a pain to make, and I will not be making another set.”
Oh, well. You can enjoy watching the video and perhaps use it as a starting to point to make your own if you’ve got the skills and patience.
If you’re not that good with your hands, then simply buy ready-made video game accessories.
