These Jack-o’-Lanterns Will Blow You Away

Aside from costumes, makeup, candy corn, lots of gooey stuff, and ghoulish noises, Halloween is also the time for jack-o’-lanterns.

Halloween pumpkins. Some are meh.

Some are too awesome for words.

And that’s what Edward J. Cabral’s Halloween pumpkins are.

This guy’s work sets the bar rather high. Don’t feel discouraged, though. While you may not be able to create such mind-blowing jack-o’-lanterns this year (or the next, or forever), you can always admire Cabral’s work.

How is this effect achieved?

Obviously, it’s a little more than carving straight through the pumpkin skin and flesh. It’s more like fine etchings on the surface with varying depths. At least I’m guessing that’s it.
