You Can Now Check Your ISP’s Performance With Netflix Fast Speed Test
Netflix and chill is one of the most widely misunderstood and misused phrases in the past year, but only because of how language – and the way of thinking evolved. From the innuendo-free “let’s watch Netflix and just chill”, it’s become…well, check out Urban Dictionary.
Anyway, I got distracted…
Let’s take a look at a scenario where you (whether alone or with other people) are watching Marvel’s Daredevil. The tension builds up, and you know it’s going to reach its peak any second now…then Netflix effs up, freezing…or messing up the quality of the feed.
You get it. Been there. Done that. Right?
Instead of chilling, you go nuts and curse Netflix like there’s no tomorrow.
But Netflix says the problem may not be on their end. It may be your ISP, which in my case is probably true.
So, the network launched Netflix Fast speed test – its own website which does what it says. It tests your download speed, nothing more. But this is what you really need to know as this speed determines the quality of your video.
I know what you’re thinking…Netflix Fast speed test is based on Netflix’s own servers, so the results you’ll get are probably biased. They got that covered – there’s an option to compare the results from Fast with Ookla’s Speedtest.
Based on my own tests, the results are pretty much the same. The first image above is the result I got from Fast. The one below is from Speedtest.
Another great tool would be the Speedcheck speed test.
So, the next time you can’t chill while watching on Netflix, go to Fast.com. Then call your ISP if the speed isn’t up to par.
What do you think about Fast? Useful or useless redundant?
(Yes, I know my ISP sucks.)
