Sony Unveils New Walkman: the Walkman ZX2
Do you remember those good old days when having a Sony Walkman was the cool thing? Being able to walk around with your favorite mix tape playing, old school earphones as accessory…ahhh, the Walkman was something else.
Then came the iPod, and everything changed. Well, the cassette tape was already on its way out (if not totally out), and so was the Sony Walkman; although Sony did its best to keep up with the times with digital music players, even new Walkman models.
At CES 2015, Sony has given its (arguably) best product a new life, in the form of the Walkman ZX2.
Why would anyone want a Walkman ZX2 when iPods are awesome?
Well, it’s a Walkman! It looks almost just like the Walkman of the 80s, and it plays a wide range of file formats, which we know is one of the downsides to Apple. The Walkman ZX2 plays files such as DSD, WAV, AIFF, FLAC, and even Apple Lossless.
The Walkman ZX2 has built-in 128 GB storage, and if you have a really huge music library, you can augment that thanks to the microSD slot.
The player is also Bluetooth compatible so you can stream music, and has NFC. Other than that, though, you shouldn’t expect much else because the Walkman ZX2 is all about the audio experience. Sony worked on the gadget specifically to target real audiophiles.
That being said, as with any high-end audiophile devices, the price tag is nothing to scoff at: more than $1,119.99.
