Words usually associated with exaggerations, to be sure. In this case, they may be used almost literally. Thanks to a company called Space Roasters, coffee lovers have something new to try. We don’t know about you, but while we do love the way we have our coffee right now, we’re always open to trying something new. Especially if it promises something other-worldly.

Space Roasters is the fairy godmother of space AND coffee enthusiasts.

How so?

In a nutshell: roast coffee beans using heat from a capsule’s re-entry from space.

The (hoped for) result: a brew the likes no one on earth has ever tasted.

“Coffee has been roasted the same way for centuries now, and as space science has improved many technologies, we believe it is time to revolutionize coffee roasting using space technology,” said founders Hatem Alkhafaji and Anders Cavallini to Room magazine.

Space Roasters coffee isn’t a mere whimsy. It’s got (space) science behind it, with the company owning plans for a propriety capsule specially designed for roasting coffee beans.

A bit much?

Perhaps. But if they’ve got the means, can deliver on their promise, and you’ve got the cash to pay for a whole new coffee experience, why not? We’d give it a go at least once.
