This Steampunk Ramen Timer Makes Sure You Get the Perfect Cup of Noodles Everytime
Because cup ramen noodles have to be perfect. Everytime.
The fact that you’ve got a steampunk ramen timer is just a nice touch. Especially if it’s rather impractical, although it looks like it can kick the ass of any other timer out there.
Of course, you can just use your watch or your phone, or you can wait for as long as you want, but what’s the fun in that?
Twitter user @FRISK_P has crafted a steampunk ramen timer that lets you know exactly when the 3-minute wait is up, but with this device, you don’t get to feel as if 3 minutes were forever. Instead, you get to wait for your noodles looking at something actually interesting. Maybe even mesmerizing.
With a few mechanical parts here and there, some electronic sorcery, and a dash of good old sand timers – maybe even mesmerizing.
But that’s not all!
FRISK_P ups the ante with what is called the “tsundere mode”. Yes, I went “tsun… what?”
Based on Wikipedia, tsundere is “a Japanese term for a character development process that describes a person who is initially cold and even hostile towards another person before gradually showing their warm side over time.”
Applied to this contraption, “tsundere mode” makes you feel some hostility in such a way that you might find it difficult to immediately dig into your cup the moment it’s ready. This mode has a default setting of the lid snapping close at 33%. Watch it in action here and be ready to want the steampunk ramen timer. Oh, and ramen, of course.
