Super Nintendo World Japan Opens Doors in February

Cross your fingers and toes that we can travel come February for Super Nintendo World Japan is opening its doors. While COVID-19 cases are surging in some areas, the promise of the vaccine is a silver lining we have all been waiting for. And, hopefully, we can pack our bags come the new year.

Universal Studios, one of the biggest chains of theme parks around the world, just announced that its Japan branch will be opening the new attraction on February 4. Super Nintendo World will start off with two major rides. Unsurprisingly, they are a Mario Kart ride and a Yoshi’s Adventure ride.

The former is going to be called Koopa’s Challenge. Nintendo thrill-seekers will be setting off inside Bowser’s castle. Riders will also be able to experience familiar worlds such as the Rainbow Road, lava themes, and underwater themes.

Take a peek at the video tour below.

The rides will include AR headsets and will be set on rails. Riders have the added enjoyment of being able to control some aspects of the rides, which include in-game staples like throwing shells and collecting items. In addition to the AR headsets, magnetic wristbands will be given to riders. While the exact manner by which these will work has not yet been revealed, it has been reported that they will offer a deeper level of engagement for riders.

Naturally, social distancing and sanitation measures will be put in place.
