From the time of its identification in 1910 by Dr. James Herrick until the Civil Rights era of the 1960s and 70s, SCD received very little attention and even less funding for research. In 1967 there were an estimated 1,155 new cases of SCA [Sickle Cell Anemia], 1,206 of cystic fibrosis, 813 of muscular dystrophy, and 350 of phenylketonuria. Yet volunteer organizations raised $1.9 million for cystic fibrosis, $7.9 million for muscular dystrophy, but less than $100,000 for SCA. Geek Supply Co. works non-profit partners to ensure that each sale of our products will provide awareness for Sickle Anemia and assistance to those who suffer from the disease.
How Do We Give?
We’ve partnered up with specific organizations that will receive 10% of our monthly sales. These organizations in turn use the money to promote Sickle Cell awareness and encourage research.
Aside from our donation, we will work hand in hand with the organizations promoting awareness via the following channels;
- Social Media
- Community Outreach
- Community Or National Events
- Use Of Spokesperson
