All I Want This Christmas Is This Real-Life Gundam Robot

Koreans are known for a lot of awesome things – out of this world fashion, badass Starcraft masters, and Samsung. Okay, strike that last thing. It was written with the sarcasm font, sarcasm dripping all over.

Seriously, though, we bow down to Koreans in many aspects of tech, and with this latest beast in their arsenal, we may as well say that our overlord is here.

Some Korean engineers have built a real-life Gundam robot that is – get this – 13 feet tall. Its uses are practically boundless, which is a pretty scary thought, what with the state of the world being what it is.

Let’s not dwell on the doomsday possibilities, though, and focus on just how much awesome has gone into this real toy for the big boys (and girls).

Forget world wars. Enter battle-bots, Real Steel-style. Now we’re talking…

After all that hype, I hate to bring you down a bit, but it has to be done.

We don’t know much about the robot – for now. Emphasis on for now.

According to designer Vitaly Bulgarov, “To answer one of the most common questions what is this for, I’ll just say for now that from a mechanical/software/hardware/electric engineering standpoint it was quite an ambitious project that required developing and enhancing a lot of technologies along the way…One of such projects is already in development, but I’m not allowed to say more at this moment.”

Sounds top secret and all that. Let’s hope it does come out for robot fighting instead of war machines. One can hope…

Now, for eye candy.

Thank you all very much for kind comments and positive response! To answer one of the most common questions what is this for I’ll just say for now that from a mechanical/software/hardware/electric engineering stand point it was quite an ambitious project that required developing and enhancing a lot of technologies along the way. That growth opens up many real world applications where everything we have been learning so far on this robot can be applied to solve real world problems. (I’m not just talking bipedal robots) One of such projects is already in development, but I’m not allowed to say more at this moment. For those who thought it was fake here is a phone video where I walked too close to it and had to be pulled back lol #koreafuturetechnology #robot #mech #walktest
