FunKey S Is the Smallest Gaming Console Ever
Size matters. There is no question about this. What is up for debate is what is better – bigger or smaller. Of course, that depends on the topic, but in this case, smaller reigns supreme. The FunKey S is the smallest handheld gaming console ever – at least as far as we know.
You can hold it with between your thumb and forefinger comfortably, attach it to your keychain, and still game whenever and wherever.
Even better, the FunKey S packs some retro-gaming goodness into its tiny housing. It promises thousands of retro games – all playable for real. You might need your reading glasses, especially if you were actually playing these games when you were a kid, but it’s so worth it.
In fact, the Kickstarter campaign for FunKey S was 100 percent funded within 3 hours of its launch! With 23 days to go (as of this writing), the goal has been exceeded more than twofold. It’s easy to see why.
If you are a fan of games available on SEGA Genesis, Super Nintendo, Game Boy Advance, and the original PlayStation, then you will want this teeny weeny handheld gaming console. But wait, there’s more – NES, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis (Megadrive), Sega Game Gear, Playstation 1, Atary Lynx, WonderSwan, and Neo Geo Pocket.
Its size makes us think of the Tamagochi but its power is something else. You can definitely do more than make sure your virtual pet is not dying.
The FunKey S may be tiny, but it has complicated engineering underneath that sturdy clamshell. It even has a feature which automatically detects when you close or open the console, making sure your game is saved and power is turned off without you having to do it manually. And when you open it, your game will start up automatically as well – in 5 seconds or less!
For $71, you can have your own FunKey. Perfect stocking stuffer, too, as it ships in November. Get it here.
