Monopoly Gamer Edition: Get to Play With Super Mario and Friends
The classic board game we all love (or love to hate, depending on how the game goes) will always have its own space on the shelf. However, one has to admit that it can get old. Ask yourself, when was the last time you played Monopoly?
If you haven’t picked it up in a while, that will change in the coming months, for Hasbro and Nintendo have partnered up for a brand new set: the Super Mario Monopoly edition.
Officially labeled as the Monopoly Gamer Edition, this version is supposed to breathe new life into the game. As the press release states:
The MONOPOLY GAMER Edition game will feel familiar yet fresh to both MONOPOLY and Nintendo fans, as players race around the board to complete levels (buy property), collect coins (money)—either from the bank or by using special powers to take them from other players—and battle legendary bosses to rack up points and win the game.
Clearly, the new edition is meant to also reel in Nintendo fans. On top of the usual “go around the board and dominate the real estate market” gameplay, Super Mario Monopoly arms players with power ups and throws boss battles their way. That’s sure to spice things up.
Of course, we can’t ignore the tokens, which include Donkey Kong, Peach, Yoshi (yay!), and Mario (duh).
The Monopoly Gamer Edition will be available in August for $24.99. If you can’t wait, you can visit GameStop for the Monopoly Gamer Collector’s Edition, which is now available for $39.99. This edition features premium packaging and an exclusive Bowser token.
