Nerdstrong Gym: the Gym for Nerds
Whether you live a loung-ey Bilbo Baggins lifestyle, or you have the mentality (maybe not the physique) of Thor, you know that being healthy is important. It’s not easy to get fit, though, and while it’s a sucky stereotype, we nerds aren’t exactly fixtures at the gym.
And why should we?
Isn’t playing Wii Tennis arm exercise? Games that make your heart thump – doesn’t that count as cardio?
Seriously, though, going to the gym can be a bummer, especially if you see all the people looking like they’ve just stepped out of the pages of a fashion magazine. Then there are the trainers whose style is akin to a military drill sergeant, and as much as we love this in games and movies, actually being shouted at in real-life is something we don’t take well. At least that’s how I feel.
But there’s hope if you really want to get off your bum and get some exercise: the Nerdstrong Gym.
The Nerdstrong Gym is located in North Hollywood (bummer for us who don’t live there), and they’re all about providing an environment where nerds (and other people who don’t really like going to the gym) feel comfortable – and even thrive. Call it the gym for nerds.
Fancy a Game of Superhero Soccer?
The concept revolves around fitness, of course, but to make workouts more enticing and motivating, the classes and routines are inspired by things we love. Think mythology. Think superheroes (wouldn’t you love to do what Arrow – Stephen Amell – does with that bar thing?). Think sci-fi and fantasy.
Sound good?
Check out Nerdstrong Gym if you live in the area and show the world that nerds don’t have to fall under that stereotype.
You probably don’t have to strike Cheetos, McDonald’s, and pizza off your diet. You may even be able to continue eating like a hobbit, but getting some physical exercise with fellow nerds will certainly help you live longer (sorry, no one has invented immortality yet).
