New Comic Book Discovery: Em is for Monsters
DC and Marvel may be the first names that come to mind when it’s comic book talk time, but there are tons of talented people out there. Em is for Monsters is one of the results of those emerging yet brilliant creatives.
Em is for Monsters is a full-color comic filled with the misadventures of a young hero who doesn’t see the world as we normal beings do. The story of the 30-page comic book revolves around the world Em lives in, a world which is pretty much like our world. Except that there is a dimension which we do not see.
The “real world” is in fact the world where monsters live among us. What we live in is a shadow of that world. A world where your neighbor may actually be a monster.
Sounds familiar? Probably.
The appeal of Em is for Monsters lies in the plucky protagonist, who, despite her seeming limitations is not hindered from trying to save mankind.
Of course, the artwork is something to be noted as well. It is a comic book, after all.
Drawn by South African Stephen Spinas, Em is for Monsters is a work of love that has been years in the making. It is almost ready, but as is usually the case with indie artists, Stephen could use our help.
He’s put his baby on Indiegogo, with a target goal of $9,990. As of this writing, there are less than 20 days left in the campaign, and the funds have quite a ways to go before reaching the goal.
So why not give a fellow geek a helping hand? Check out Em is for Monsters.
